Fennel or Saunf is commonly used in Indian subcontinent. It is generally eaten or chewed after having a meal. It is aromatic and feels good in the mouth. Actually, it contains minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. It also full of vitamin B, C and a good quantity of protein. As a whole, In 100 gram of fennel seeds, 52% are carbohydrates, 15% fat, 40% dietary fiber and 16% protein. In experiments with cultured cells and in animal models of cancer, anethole had antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cancer chemopreventative properties.
