Hello, friends! this post is all about watermelon health benefits. It is seasonal food and in the summer, you can enjoy its sweetness. You are well aware of this fruit which is full of water. Watermelon basically originated in the southern African region where it grew wildly. But It is a famous fruit and spread around the world. China is the largest producer of watermelon followed by Turkey. 

Watermelon has good nutritional values. It has approximately 91% water, 6% sugar and low quantity of fat. It has Lycopene which is a red pigment that occurs naturally in certain plant and algal tissues. In addition to giving watermelon and tomatoes their color, it is also thought to act as a powerful antioxidant.

  • Protein - 0.61 gm,

  • Iron - 0.24 mg,
  • Magnesuim - 10 mg,
  • Phosphorous - 11 mg,
  • Water - 91.45 gm,

What are the health benefits of Watermelon ? 


(1) Super Anti-Oxidant



Watermelon contains lycopene which has a brilliant antioxidants property. It gives the fruit its red colour and increases your immune system by defeating free radicals from damaging your cells. Some study suggests that lycopene also fights cancer cells. Due to its benefits, it is significantly linked with heart attacks.

Eat watermelon regularly in summer. At home, keep it at 25-degree centigrade.



(2) Relaxes Muscles



Drinking watermelon juice makes your muscle relax and removes muscle soreness. Watermelon contains citrulline which improved artery functions and lower blood pressure. Citrulline is mostly found in the rind of the watermelon (outer cover of watermelon).

You can save watermelon's rind for future use by pickling. 



(3) Full of Water



Watermelon is full of water and as said above, it has approximately 91 % water. it gives it super hydrated power. It helps to hydrate the body because dehydration can make your body sick and you feel fatigue. 

Watermelon is the best source of water which keeps you hydrated.



Watermelon has the GI (Glycemic index) value of 72 which makes it sugar rich. High GI index fruits or vegetables consumed fast in your stomach hence it can increase blood sugar just after consuming it. Non-diabetes patients can enjoy this food but diabetes patients should take care of their consumption.
