Acne is a common disease which causes pimples. It is very common in teenagers and young adults. Pimples can be formed on your face, back, shoulders, chest and neck. Pimples form when your hair follicles under your skin clog up. Acne or pimples is not a serious diseases but it can cause scars.

Acne can happened due to hormones changes or pregnancy. Some believes that acne or pimples can happen due to dirt on skin, eating oily food, taking certain medicines, makeup, stress etc. But there are no scientific evidences to support that. Among these, stress can make your acne worse. You can classify acne under mild, moderate and severe acne.

There are different types of acne. These are-

  • Whiteheads: pimples that stay under the surface of the skin.
  • Blackheads: pimples that rise to the skin’s surface and look black (the black color is not from dirt).
  • Papules: small pink bumps that can be tender.
  • Pustules: pimples that are red at the bottom and have pus on top.
  • Nodules: large, painful, solid pimples that are deep in the skin.
  • Cysts: deep, painful, pus-filled pimples that can cause scars.

Acne may be hard to go, but you can take care of your skin by yourself with simple tips. 

CLEAN SKIN

Clean your face thrice a day i.e. morning, afternoon and evening. Choose a best and suitable soap or cleanser. Be gentle on your face while cleaning. Clean your face after gym to remove sweating on your face. 

You can use cleansing milk to clean your face. Use some clean cotton, take cleansing milk
 and gently apply on your face thouroughly. Then wash your face with water. 

Avoid strong soaps and rough scrub pads. Harsh scrubbing of the skin may make acne worse. It is also important to choose right makeup for your skin. 

CLEAN HAIR

You should wash your hairs more often if your hair is oily. Use best shampoo and conditioner for your hairs.

DON'T SQUEEZE

If you squeeze or pinch you acne lesions, you are making it worse. Never squeeze or pick at acne lesions. This can cause acne scars. It may not look good on your face and a dark spot may form.

AVOID SUNBURNED

You should stay away from the Sun when you are treating your acne. Many medicines or creams used to treat acne can make you more prone to sunburn. Heavy exposure of Sun may make the wrinkles on your face and it's not help your acne. 

Use sun cream while go out with sun glasses.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR

Acne is not easily removed. Due to heredity or some other reasons, it took more time to get removed. Ask your family doctor to help. Your doctor may advise you some lifestyle changes and treatment. Take your medicines regularly and monitor your acne condition carefully. 


Many teenagers have pimples at some points. Some pimples may get away easily but some are not. Patience is important while treating acne. Clean your face regularly, clean your hairs, avoid sunburn and never squeeze the pimples. Ask your doctor for help to treat your acne.
